on my first day of work at los hermanos {this is july 2007, folks} this sexy guy immediately caught my attention. mmm mmmm yes, he was brown and handsome and really just delicious. however, he was obviously every girls' favorite, and i never was one to compete.

four months went by, he dated other girls, i dated other boys, and life went on rather usually.

until the infamous Day of the Straightened Hair.

freshly single, i got up early before work that day and straightened my curly hair {a two hour ordeal}. i needed something sassy and different, something to draw attention away from the awkward space between my new ex and i {the joys of dating co-workers!}

i walked past orlando that day and the look on his face stopped me mid-step. i'd never had such a look thrown my direction before- he was half grinning, half stunned, his eyes lit up with sudden attraction. he'd known me for months but hadn't really noticed me til that moment.

two days later he knocked on my apartment door and asked me on a date. my very last first date. while we were dating, i'd straighten my hair occasionally because i could never get over the expression he had when i did it the first time. until one day he informed me that he liked my hair better curly, curly was his favorite. curly was the way to light him up.

i haven't straightened it since.
