having a daughter has completely changed my world. she is sweetness personified and i am awed by the tenderness and natural peace her little spirit exudes. she has made me see everything in a different light, she has granted me greater understanding, and she has strengthened my testimony more than i thought possible. knowing her has taught me to better know myself.
having a daughter has made me see myself for the daughter of God I am. if she is this precious and beloved, then i must be too.
having a daughter has helped me understand what qualities and characteristics should matter most. i want her to know she's smart and happy and kind and peaceful and tender and that all of these qualities are vastly more important and valuable than being sexy or hot or even pretty. her soul is the most gorgeous thing in creation and i don't ever want her to listen to the world tell her that her physical appearance is the only thing that counts and that it isn't good enough. she is, and always will be, more than enough. we all are.
having a daughter has solidified my testimony of the divine nature of women and our essential role in the world and the gospel. i will never let anyone tell my daughter she is limited, because in truth she is everything good and precious and kind and she can and will be a force in this world and every world to come. and if that's true for her, than it's true for ALL of us.
having a daughter is the sweetest experience of my life to date and i'm honored and overcome with gratitude for this incredible blessing. she has so much to teach me, and i pray i can teach her a few good things along the way too.
lia, you are a daughter of God, a goddess in the making, and a powerful soul with so much good to do here. you are more special, more valued, more loved, than you'll ever know, and if you ever forget that, i will be right here to remind you. you are my sweet girl and i'll treasure you always.
love, mama
