i love these people like i love summer, part 1

stacy, brian and little claire came to visit me and sunny san diego this week and oh my goooooodness i loved having them so so so much! they felt just like family and it meant the world to me to have them over. we played played played and i think we were all happily worn out by the time they left. they were so much fun to show around because they genuinely loved san diego and i genuinely loved holding darling claire every chance i got. i think she loved me too, which definitely made my week. they are the most darling little family! brian is the cutest dad, he is completely wrapped around claire's littlest finger. stacy is just as hilarious as ever and the most caring mama. and stacy and brian are even more in love then they were when we stayed up squealing over the sparkly ring on stacy's finger. it was a treat to hang out with them for a few days, to soak up a little joy and fun with my favorite anderson family!

they arrived on sunday and we went over to balboa park to do a little exploring. it was a gorgeous evening and we had fun wandering around the gardens and checking out the architecture. {pictures on stacy's camera, coming in part 2} we ate a late dinner and then stacy and i stayed up and laughed and talked long after claire and brian were out. felt like we were roomies again, it was so fun!

monday we got up and headed over to la jolla cove to kick off our beach day. we introduced claire to the ocean and laughed at how she yelled at the waves as they crashed on the rocks. stacy and brian snorkled while claire and i ate sand on the beach and played in the waves, and we found crabs and watched the sea lions and i even tried snorkling for the first time! it's something i've always been a little scared of and i definitely drank a fair amount of salty ocean water,  but i was brave enough to try it! {thanks stacy, for talking me into trying it and holding my hand the whole time} we had a blast. claire looooooved the ocean. she would have dived in headfirst if we'd let her! she sat on the beach and pinched little fingerfuls of sand into her cute yellow shovel and then tried to eat it all morning.

when we got hungry we headed over to mission beach for some delicious pizza at luigi's and soak up some more sun. stacy and brian braved the chilly waves and went boogie boarding...

while claire and i had a fashion show on the beach

when we were all sunned out, we headed home to clean up before going out for a night on the town in old town. we walked around the shops, watched some authentic mexican dancing, and ate at my favorite- cafe coyote. it's divine mexican food- perfect margaritas and great tacos and the best enchiladas in california. brian even said they were the best he'd had since his mission in mexico! i love it when the company loves the food here as much as i do!

tuesday morning we were off to cross an item off the bucket list- the anderson's first visit to the san diego zoo! we had such a fun day. our favorites were the pandas, the polar bears, and the hipppos- the pandas were so cute and for the first time, i got to see a polar bear up close- he was huge! he dived in the water right in front of us and it was amazing. he was massive, seriously, i was blown away. i wish i had gotten a picture of him, but i was too busy watching in awe. and then when we got to the hippo enclosure, the mama hippo was teaching her baby to swim and it was so cute, watching the little fella try it out.  ooo and i love the jaguar, she is the most beautiful cat, prowling around her enclosure. we had the best luck- so many great sightings, it was one of the best zoo days i've ever had. it was so fun to watch claire- she loved the meercats and the orangatangs, she was so excited!

wednesday morning we went back to old town to enjoy a few more shops and eat some yummy cinnamon sugar tortillas before they left. it was an awesome three days, we filled our time to the brim with fun and were happily worn out by the time they had to go. for the record, i would have kept them allllll week if they could have stayed! we had so much fun together, i'm so glad they decided to come! i love love love them!

p.s. more pics coming in part 2 when i get them from stacy...
p.p.s. yes, i am going to be one of those people who takes and post hundreds of pictures of her children.
